First I must apologize, the next tutorial review will be up Tuesday, not Monday. I kinda forgot it was Memorial Day.

Second, I started a face book page. I hope that this is a space where we all can interact.  Share pictures of our crafts, tips for crafting, teach and learn, and share giveaways we know about.  It's called Busy Lizzy's, and here is a link (I hope it works, let me know if it doesn't.)  If you see this image you've got it!

Also I am working on making a skirt tutorial for you.  This beauty of this skirt is that you will be able to make it for you, your baby, your 5 yr old, your 10 yr old, whoever you want. I am not sure when I will have this posted but hopefully withing the week (I have one more kink to work out).

Ruffle Bum Onsie

Okay here is my first tutorial review.  I am excited (I hope you are too!)  Someone suggested that I do a ruffle bum onsie little did she know I already had the onsie and material planning on doing it.
So the tutorial I am using is from Crap I've Made.  Char is amazing and very humorous.  I love reading her sight and learning from her.  here are a few of the awesome tutorials she offers.

Do you see that stinken cute bum.  I love it.  To follow her tutorial go here.  I did things a little differently and I came up with this.

First I decided to use 3 different pieces of material instead of the same.  It was just the mood I was in.

I am not fortunate enough to have a serger nor do I own pinking shears so I kinda mixed the techniques together.  FYI if I had pinking shears that is without a doubt the method I would have used. So simple and wonderful.
I started by basically "hemming" my material all the way around.  I folded a small fold on all sides and ironed.

Than I folded it in again and ironed again.

(yes you do see crayon all over my cutting mat, just ignore it.)
I than sewed my folds down as close to the center as I could.  Than right done the middle I did a baste stitch so I could pull it into a ruffle.
Than I followed her directions to put it on.
Helpful tips:
1- Don't think you can eyeball it and skip drawing the lines.  This will only lead to you having to unpick it a million times. (Not that I did that cough cough.)
2- Baste your ruffle on first!.  This way if there are any puckers in the onsie or you make some other mistake it is easier to fix. 
3- Be sure to look inside the onsie before you do your final stitching.
4- The more pins you use pinning it on the better :)

The first onsie I sewed took my something like 2 hrs, but that's because I didn't follow those useful tips I just shared with you.  The next one only took 45ish min.
I bought a 5 pack of onsies from carters and I bought my material from a local quilt shop. (There aren't any other fabric stores besides that in this small town. Besides I like the quality of quilting fabric better.)  With this, the total cost of each onsie was around $3.50 (This includes the cute little fabric flowers I made as well.)  And they were totally worth it.

I think they are so cute!  This is really hard for me because I like them so much but....  I have decided to give one of them away.    Lucky you!!!  FYI they are 3-6month in size.

Flower Bows

I am excited about thinking about making bows again.  I am thinking of this as a fresh start.  And what is fresher than flowers? So my first "Bow" post will be to show you some flowers.  I will add some more flowers later but here is a quick peek at some that I already have.

The Spiked Gerber Bow.  I love how full this flower is and how much dimension it adds.

 

Here is a super cute button ribbon bow.  It is super simple and, well... cute as a button!

 

Here is a fun funky fabric flower with frayed edges.  It is so fun and playful, great for a summer day.

This daisy ribbon flower is one of my favorites.  I love the shape and all the possibilities this flower gives you.

I hope you like these as much as I do.  They feel so springy don' they?

New Ideas

Hello world. Is there any one out there who might still read this blog? If there is than I would like some feed back.
First I miss making hair bows. I am afraid that this genre is way over populated. So I think I might start making them again but add a twist.
The twist, I am really enjoying sewing as of late and I love these cute frilly multi fabric skirts. So I am thinking of selling skirts and matching hair bows.
Here is an example. This particular skirt is a size 5. This particular set I would price at $15.00.
There are more skirts and bows I would make as well. And as always I would be willing to do a custom order.
If this is something you would be interested in please let me know. Also if you know anyone who might like this let them know and if I get enough interest I just might do a giveaway.

I am also thinking of doing one other thing on this blog. A craft tutorial review. I know there are a tone of blogs that highlight different tutorials, but that's not what I am talking about. I am talking about following the tutorial than letting you know how hard or easy it was, how much it cost me, what I liked and didn't like and what I would change, etc. Would anybody read anything like that?

Anyways those are just some of the thoughts rolling around in my head as of late. Let me know what you think.
